Kentucky Search and Rescue (SAR) Program is governed by Kentucky Revised Statutes Chapter 39F and its accompanying regulations KAR 106.
The SAR Program is also a support function to the counties, local rescue squads and other emergency services organizations who perform search, rescue and recovery operations for lost, missing and overdue persons.
Search and Rescue training courses are offered several times a year, free of charge.
A Search and Rescue Grant program allows Search and Rescue Teams, eligible under KRS 39F.120, to apply for funding that may be used to replace minimum equipment as may be required by Kentucky Administrative Regulation and to acquire optional specialty equipment to expand the types of services provided by a rescue squad."
